Obituary of Gene Ruppel

Gene passed away in the loving arms of Ross, her beloved husband of 55 years, on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at the age of 76 years.

Loved mother of Kim (Derek) Doidge and Chris (Jill) Ruppel. Loving grandmother of Cassy (Brad) and Erik.

Predeceased by her parents Henry and Roxie (Grischow) Sittler and her newly found biological sister Sharon St. Louis.

Gene was a lifelong member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Jacobs and was a volunteer with the Ladies Group of the St. Jacobs Lions Club. She was active in her community and enjoyed helping with Brownies, playing Ringette, painting and creating crafts, jewellery and greeting cards. Since 2001, Gene and Ross had a lot of fun square dancing together. She was a floral designer and had worked at Raymond’s Flower Shop, Flowers and Fancies, Julie’s Flowers, and IC Flowers.

At Gene’s request cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1407 King St. N., St. Jacobs.
