Strauss, Mary (nee Rektor)
Peacefully passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Lisaard House, Cambridge, at the age of 92 years. Beloved wife of Edward for 74 years. Loving mother of Jackie and Ron Cross, Jerry and Bruce Wiltse, Jim Strauss, Janet Strauss, Deborah Strauss, Ron and Julia Strauss, and Mark Strauss. Dear grandma to 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents James and Antonia Rektor, brother Emil Rektor and sister Josephine O’Neil. Mary was an extremely devout woman, a friend to all, and always interested in everyone. She was a great example to her children with her joy of life. The family will receive their relatives and friends on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, with parish prayers at 4:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira, with a reception to follow. In her memory, donations to St. Teresa’s Building Fund, Lisaard House, or Grand River Regional Cancer Centre.
