Obituary of Frederick David Martin

Passed away peacefully at his home in Fergus on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the age of 78 years. Fred Martin was the beloved husband of Barbara (Gilchrist) Martin for 52 years. Dear father of Kyle and his wife Julia of Waterloo, Kent of Elora, and Karen Robinson of Guelph. Loved Papa of Carter and Austin Robinson.  Brother of Geraldine Peltz, Leonard (Jean) Martin, Yvonne (Richard) Disano, and Howard (Marion) Martin. Remembered by Barbara’s siblings Kerry (Kelly) Gilchrist, and Todd (Bev) Gilchrist. Predeceased by a daughter in infancy, his parents Walter and Delphine (Kavelman) Martin, brother-in-law Murray Peltz, nephew Greg Peltz, and sister-in-law Donna (John) Gillan. Fred was an electrical contractor, as owner of F.M. Electric, served as a board member of ECACO and was a 50 year member of IBEW Local 804. He was a member of Gale Presbyterian Church, Elmira, and formerly a member of the Elmira Lions Club. Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Gale Presbyterian Church, 10 Barnswallow Drive, Elmira,  followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place.  In Fred’s memory, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
