Obituary of Viola Lillie Axt

Viola passed away peacefully at Barnswallow Place Care Community, Elmira, on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the age of 96 years.

Viola (Israel) Axt was the beloved wife of the late Helmer Axt (2013). Dear mother of Verneda Prentice of Waterloo. Loved grandmother of Brenda and Darryl McWaters of Hamilton, and Brad and Laurie Prentice of Elmira. Loving great-grandmother of Grace and Nathalie McWaters, Ethan, Aidan and Rylie Prentice. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Clara (Ernst) Israel, son-in-law Carl Prentice (1998), siblings Roy (Edna) Israel, Percy (Mary) Israel, Rella Clark, and Pearl (Walter) Spencer, and her sister-in-law Thelma (Grant) Schneider.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Pheasant Run at Barnswallow Place for their kind care.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2 p.m., with visiting one hour prior, at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A reception will follow. Interment will take place in Elmira Union Cemetery.

In Viola’s memory, donations to St. James Lutheran Church, Elmira, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
