Obituary of Edwin J. Martin
Passed away peacefully on May 19, 2018, at Innisfree House, Kitchener, at the age of 86 years. Edwin Martin, of Arthur and lately of St. Jacob’s Place, was the loving father of Jeff Martin (Lisa) of Burlington, Jon Martin (Darcy) of Invermere, BC, James Martin (Christine) of Squamish, BC, and Julie Martin (Eddie) of Great Meadows, New Jersey, and grandfather of Amelia, Riley, and Daniel; Cory and Jessie; Mikayla and Shondra. Edwin is survived by his siblings Saloma Smith, Leah Martin, Alvin Martin, Anna Kelly, Don Martin and Reg Martin, and Ruth Martin (the mother of his four children). He was predeceased by his brother Manny Martin, parents, Peter and Lovina Martin, and wife, Lynn Goranson. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews and his large extended family.
Ed was a well-loved teacher of math and computer science at Elmira District Secondary School, from where he retired in 1987 after over 20 years as an educator. He always loved to learn, to discover, to read and to travel, and especially to drive across this great country, which he had done countless times since his first trip to Alberta in 1955.
A very special thank you to Katie, Teri-Lynn, and all of the amazing nurses, PSWs and volunteers at Innisfree House for their tremendous care, and their incredible support of our entire family.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, and from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A reception will follow the service. Interment in Hawkesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Innisfree House would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
