Obituary of Samuel De Haan
Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of the late Jean De Haan (nee Cunningham) (2017). Loved father of Kathy Billings (Bob Guillemette), Jim De Haan (Sherry), Brenda Schlupp (Rick), Nancy Walls (Bob), and Linda Sisson (Keith). Loving Papa of Melissa, Adam, Victoria (Chris), Justin (Kelsey), Steven (Kandice), Sommer, R.J. (Brit), Shannon, Abby, Kaitlynn, Megan, and Haley. Dear Great-Papa of Hunter, Brayden, Hannah, Jaydon, Lexy, Kailub, Maya, Gavin, Joey, Juliet, Avery Rose, Christopher Jr., Adalyn, and soon to be born Zackary Samuel. Loving brother of Anne Smeda (the late Ralph), Dorothy Olthoff (the late Henry), and Bill De Haan (Betty). Dear brother-in-law of John Cunningham (Willa), Sharon Cunningham (the late Jim), Geraldine Cunningham (the late Billy), Muriel Bedrosian (the late Albert), Marion Mahoney (the late Mike), Olive Sartor (Guido), and Lorraine Holmwood (the late Tom). Sam is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Gertrude De Haan, Jean's parents Archibald and Margaret Cunningham, Jean's sister Catherine Turner (the late Bill), and Jean's brother Gilbert Cunningham. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. at Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Visitation will also take place on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Gale Presbyterian Church, 10 Barnswallow Dr., Elmira. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener at 2:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Children's Wish Foundation or McMaster Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
