Obituary of F. Gerald Hargreaves
Passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in his 97th year. Gerry was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia (Winters) Hargreaves (1983). Loved father of Maureen (Norman) Maxwell, Sue (Larry) McCallum, and Wendy Hargreaves. Loving grandfather of Diana (Andrew), Sandy, Debbie, Michael, Ryan (Nicole), and Tarra Janine “TJ” (Isaac), great-grandfather of Matthew, Sylvia, Austin, Alexandrea ‘Alley’, Alyssa, Addison, Morgan, Hannah, and Carson, and great-great-grandfather of Paolo. Gerry was the oldest of 12 children of the late Arthur and Violet Hargreaves. He served his country during WWII where he met his Sylvia, the love of his life. He brought his family to Canada in 1957 for new and better opportunities. Gerry enjoyed the peacefulness of nature, gardening and long walks, and above all spending time with his loved ones. At Gerry’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held in the Brampton Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Chartwell Westmount LTC in Kitchener for their compassionate and supportive care of both Gerry and his family.
