My condolences to you and your family, and it is with shock and sorrow that I recently learned that your mother had passed away. I knew Marcy through both of our involvements in the adoption profession. For a number of years , I worked at the Ministry Adoption Unit, and it was during this time, I came to to know Marcy. While our contact was mainly by phone, I was always impressed by her caring for her clients, her warmth and enthusiasm, and her wonderful writing style. She really had an ability to describe her clients in a very personable, real way! We later came to know each other as colleagues, and she always greeted me with such warmth and friendliness. it was truly a privilege to know her, and I hope that she will stay with you through many precious memories. My thoughts are with you...

Sending our condolences to Marcy's family during this difficult time.
We met Marcy a while ago when we started our adoption journey. We instantly knew that this beaming, friendly, caring women would be the one that would guide us through this process.
We had the oppurtunity to hear stories about her children and grandson and she beamed when she spoke about you.
Marcy became a part of the family as she sat and joked with my dad and cousin while having tea. There was never a time when we needed her that she would not be there, even when she was away for the weekend and we received that first profile she reached out to her resources and called us back with all the information
When we felt lost she was there to guide us.
She was a special person to us and everyone she encountered .

Dear Lindsay and Ryan and family: We were so saddened by the news of Marcy's death. We first met your Mom back in 2002 when we started on the adoption process. She was with us every step of the way, encouraging us, supporting us through the long wait until we finally saw the picture of our daughter late in 2003. She shared that happy day with us like she was part of our family!
We never felt like just her clients, we felt like she was our dear friend who travelled on this journey with us. And after we met our daughter in Jan. 2004, we continued to keep in touch with her. She wanted to know how our life as a family was going beyond her post adoption paperwork. She became a family friend.. She loved receiving letters and pictures of our girls from China.
And as she started on the journey to become a teacher, I felt like I had the chance to be the one encouraging her in return. And we had many phone conversations about the education profession over the years as well.
Your Mom had such a enthusiastic personality and she always shared proudly about how Lindsay and Ryan were doing with her bright smile.
Your Mom's memory will live on through all the adoptions she helped with over the years and to the grateful couples like me and Dave who became a family because of all her hard work and encouragement. What she did, make a life changing difference in the lives of so many of us who wanted to have a family. Our deepest condolences go out to all of you.

Marcy was our adoption social worker. She spent countless hours helping us understand the adoption process, filling out a seemingly endless stream of paperwork and being there for us through the up-and-down emotions of building our family through adoption.
She was the voice on the other end of “the call” when we first learned about our daughters and she was the one who emailed us their first pictures. There is simply no one who was more responsible for us finding and adopting our daughters than Marcy.
There was a lot to love about Marcy, and a lot that will be missed now that she’s gone. But, whenever we think of her we will remember this one amazing fact - we are only one of many families that are together today because of her. For us, that is Marcy’s legacy, and we are very honoured to be a part of it.

Dear Lindsay and Ryan,
I am deeply sorry for the untimely loss of your fabulous mother. I had the privilege of being friends with Marcy and of being her colleague for over 20 years and was always inspired by her positive energy and outlook - on all things.
Marcy talked about you with pride and love - your accomplishments, teaching careers, Ryan’s sports, Lyndsay and Bruno’s wedding and of her sweetheart grandson Mason.
She was a dedicated and intelligent adoption worker, helping her clients and sharing in their joy. I remember with fondness in past years Marcy and I talked hockey with each other, Marcy providing long winded and welcome hockey-mom guidance to me. With real sadness I will read over our emails to each other of last week and say thanks for knowing her.

Very saddened to hear the news of Marcy's passing. Marcy was my social worker who assisted in my adoption from Ethiopia in 2009. She was a wonderful person, who was very caring and kind. I remember many good laughs with her as she helped me through the daunting home study process. She took the time to arrange a meeting with a fellow single parent in Kitchener so I could ask questions and learn more about adoption. Marcy always made me feel as though she was rooting for me and my soon to be family, and she was so happy when I was finally able to bring my daughter home. She was a true professional and was my guide and mentor throughout the adoption journey. I will remember her with great fondness and hope that her family will be able to rely on great memories to help them through this difficult time.

Dear Ryan and Lindsay,
You don't know me, but over the years, I heard many wonderful stories from your mom about you; how you were her pride and joy; how her grandson lit up her day, and how much she loved you dearly. We often swapped moms' "growing up" stories, as our daughter also went to WLU, and Marcy often said" Why doesn't she drop in for dinner? We're right here. " So Marcy...
As a person who worked also in the field of adoption, I first met Marcy about 15 years ago, and felt that instant connection for which your Mom was known. She'd say, "I have a wonderful, wonderful couple for you... and she was right, of course".
A twinkle in her eye; a slightly-raised eyebrow; a wild story, or the genuine, heartfelt devotion that she poured into her work and gave to her clients. "We love Marcy! ", they would say to me. "Of course, you do!", I often said back, with a big smile. She lit up the room when she entered, and always... a good, good laugh or hilarious observation.
I will always treasure the fact that I got to know your Mom, through our work. She touched so many people, and I know for sure --by the way in which she spoke of you-- that you will miss her dearly, beyond the telling of any words. You... are her legacy. I am sure that you will do her proud.
Marcy will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to you and your family,

We’re sad that she will not have the opportunity to share in the joy when / if the day finally arrives to see a placement through for us. This is such incredibly sad news. Marcy was an absolutely wonderful human being and one of our absolute favourite people! Always approachable, a great sense of humour, a shoulder to lean on, and such a big and caring heart. My wife and I got to know Marcy and had the privilege of spending a lot of time with her as she worked hard and fast to take us through the home study and adoption process, making us feel comfortable every step of the way. She made us feel like part of the family and her dedication to my wife and I had us adopt-ready much faster than we expected - it was only because of Marcy that our lives were forever changed (for the better) as we welcomed our baby girl home within weeks. Had Marcy been like any other practitioner, we would not have been adopt-ready nearly as fast and would certainly have missed out on the most precious gift that life could have given us.
Our sincerest condolences to her kids, grandson, and rest of her family and friends.
We will forever remember Marcy for the amazing person she was, and the huge role she played in the forming of our family.
