Obituary of Victoria Janet Rau

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, at the age of 61.

Vicky was the beloved wife of the late Wallace “Bimbo” Rau (2016). Loving and devoted mother of Jessica and Curtis Legere and proud grandma of Claire, all of Elmira. Sister of Billy Schmaus, Philip and Angie Schmaus, Charmaine and Mike Joy, sister-in-law of Tracy and Doug Winslade, Brad Rau, Chris and Steve McCullough, and daugher-in-law of Arlene Rau.

Predeceased by her mother Hilda (Hiebert) Schmaus, her father-in-law Ron Rau, sisters-in-law Bonnie Wright and Cheryl Stemmler, and brothers-in-law Bill Wright and Ron Rau Jr.

Vicky was the recreational and leisure director at Chartwell LTC – Elmira for over 30 years, and was an active member of St. Teresa’s RC Church. As well, she served as past president of the CWL.

At Vicky’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral home visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. at St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 19 Flamingo Dr., Elmira.

In Vicky’s memory, donations to Chateau Gardens Auxiliary or Hospice Wellington, Guelph, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira. A special thank you to the Elmira community for all of the caring support we received during Vicky’s illness.
